Anatomy of the Eye and Orbit
The eye is a complex organ that allows us to see the world around us. It is made up of a number of different structures, each of which plays a specific role in vision. The eye is located in the orbit, which is a bony socket that protects the eye from injury.

Structures of the Eye
The eyeball is the main structure of the eye. It is a roughly spherical organ that is filled with a clear fluid called vitreous humor. The eyeball is made up of three layers:
* The outermost layer is the sclera, which is a tough, white connective tissue that protects the inner structures of the eye. * The middle layer is the choroid, which is a vascular layer that supplies the eye with blood. * The innermost layer is the retina, which is a light-sensitive tissue that contains the photoreceptors that allow us to see.
The eyeball is suspended in the orbit by a number of muscles and ligaments. These muscles allow us to move the eye in all directions.
The eyelids are two thin folds of skin that cover the front of the eye. The eyelids help to protect the eye from dust, dirt, and other foreign objects. The eyelids also contain glands that produce tears, which help to keep the eye moist.
The lacrimal system is a system of ducts and glands that produce and drain tears. Tears are a clear fluid that helps to keep the eye moist and free of debris. The lacrimal system consists of the lacrimal gland, which produces tears, and the lacrimal ducts, which drain tears away from the eye.
Structures of the Orbit
The orbit is a bony socket that surrounds the eye. The orbit is made up of seven bones:
* The frontal bone * The zygomatic bone * The maxilla bone * The lacrimal bone * The ethmoid bone * The sphenoid bone * The palatine bone
The orbit is lined with a thin layer of connective tissue called the periorbita. The periorbita helps to protect the eye from injury.
The orbit contains a number of important structures, including the eye muscles, the optic nerve, and the blood vessels that supply the eye. The optic nerve is a bundle of nerve fibers that carries visual information from the eye to the brain.
The eye and orbit are complex structures that work together to allow us to see the world around us. The anatomy of the eye and orbit is important for ophthalmologists, who are doctors who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
