Born in Woking, Surrey, England, in 1958, Weller was drawn to music from a young age. He started playing guitar at the age of 11, and by the time he was 15, he had formed his first band, The Jam. The Jam quickly became one of the most popular bands in the UK, and their music was known for its catchy melodies, politically charged lyrics, and Weller's distinctive vocals. The band released six studio albums before disbanding in 1982.

After The Jam split up, Weller formed The Style Council with keyboardist Mick Talbot. The Style Council had a more soulful and sophisticated sound than The Jam, and their music was often infused with elements of jazz and funk. The Style Council released five studio albums before disbanding in 1989.

Weller began his solo career in 1991, and he has released 14 studio albums to date. His solo work is characterized by its eclecticism, and he has experimented with a wide range of genres, including rock, pop, soul, jazz, and folk. Weller has also collaborated with a number of other musicians, including Noel Gallagher, Damon Albarn, and Graham Coxon.

The Jam's follow-up singles, "All Around the World" and "Going Underground," were also hits, and the band's debut album, In the City, was released in 1977.

The Jam's music was often politically charged, and their lyrics addressed issues such as unemployment, poverty, and racism. Weller's lyrics were often sharp and witty, and he was not afraid to speak his mind. The Jam's music was also known for its catchy melodies and Weller's distinctive vocals.

The Jam released six studio albums in total, and they were one of the most popular bands in the UK in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The band split up in 1982, but their music continues to be influential today.
